Effects of Alcohol on Skin

December 5, 2011 by Atagi Plastic Surgery & Skin Aesthetics

‘Tis the season to be merry! With all the holiday parties and events occurring, we tend to consume more alcohol than usual.  Too much alcohol and even our skin feels hung over.

Alcohol and caffeine dehydrates your body and depletes it of vital nutrients. This can lead to dull skin and a worn-out appearance.  It may also cause blood vessels to dilate, over time this could become permanent, resulting in spider veins.  If you already have a tendency toward rosacea or even psoriasis, you may notice flare ups.

Indulge a little but only in moderation.  Drink additional water when having cocktails, wine or holiday favorites like eggnog! Happy Holidays!
